STORYLINES
- Georgia Southern reaches the middle point of their seven-game homestand on Wednesday night with Mercer coming to town for a midweek test. Wednesday's game is 80's night at the ballpark with rad music and promotions all night.
- The Eagles erased a 6-2 deficit to defeat No. 9 Georgia in the series finale on Saturday night, 10-7. The Eagles tallied four hits as David Johnson picked up his first win of the year and Hayden Harris notched his first save of the year.
- Georgia Southern holds a commanding 114-48-1 lead in the all-time series with Mercer, but dropped both games to the Bears last year. Steven Curry and Chandler Corley each had three RBIs in the 11-8 loss in Macon. The Eagles came out on the short end of an 11-3 result in Statesboro to drop the season series.
- The 10-7 win over the ninth ranked Bulldogs is notable for more than just the Eagles giving it to the state's flagship institution. The Top-10 win is the first since May 30, 2014 when the Eagles downed Florida State in the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional, 7-0.
- In the series finale Georgia Southern flew past the No. 9 Bulldogs behind a seven run sixth inning. The Eagles managed the crooked number with four walks and three hit batters as well as a three base fielding error. Did we forget to mention any hits? Nope, the Eagles scored seven runs in an inning without a base hit.
- With wins in the series finales against West Virginia and Georgia, the Eagles have kept alive their good mark at home in non-conference play. Over the last 20 years under Coach Hennon, the Eagles have not been swept in a three game series at J.I. Clements Stadium. The last time the Eagles were swept in a three-game series at home was in May 1982 when Florida State took three games over the Eagles.
- Junior Tyler Owens opened his account with the Eagles in splendid fashion on February 26 against the College of Charleston. Owens tossed seven innings of two hit, shutout ball to earn his first Division I win. He didn't issue a walk and fanned five. The offense had his back, scoring a season-high eight runs in the win.
