Biography

SENIOR (2013): Well-rounded, physical cornerback with calm and focused demeanor... Forced opponents to avoid his side of the field and look to other options when on patrol in secondary... Provided exceptional coverage on pass and run... Deterred opponents’ rush attack with physicality, making tackle or turning the ball inside...  Invited to the prestigious 2014 Senior Bowl... Started and played in 10 games, missing final game due to injury... Had most career starts (41) among Eagle veterans in 2013 and provided invaluable leadership to defensive backs… Played three years at cornerback and spent sophomore year at safety... Most physical player in the Eagle secondary challenged the opponents’ top receivers… Earned second-team All-Southern Conference honors from league’s coaches and media... Led the Southern Conference in passes defended for most of the season, finishing second with .90 per game with seven breakups and two interceptions... Ranked in the top 10 for interceptions in the league with two... Both interceptions came against Western Carolina, immediately making statement with first INT to end Catamounts first series of the game... Picked off long pass attempt late in game to prevent WCU score... Registered season-best seven tackles at Appalachian State with a tackle for loss and pass breakup... Had two pass breakups against both Samford and St. Francis (Pa.)... Credited with six tackles against the Red Flash to go along with his two PBUs... JUNIOR (2012): Played in 13 contests and started 12, missing only the Howard game… Earned third letter as a true junior, one of eight Eagles on the roster with that distinction… Tied for fifth on the SoCon passes defended list for 2012 with teammate Valdon Cooper with nine on the year… One of three Eagles who posted season-best seven pass breakups… Has most career solo tackles among veterans with 100 unassisted and 135 total tackles… Returned interception vs. Samford for 72 yards and first career touchdown to add to Eagles’ lead in first half… That interception return ranks in the top 10 for longest interception returns, tying Marco Bradham’s return vs. Appalachian State in 1994…Also made two solo tackles and had two pass breakups vs. Bulldogs… Returned interception for 24 yards vs. Jacksonville to start Eagles’ fourth scoring drive in the season opener… Also recorded two total tackles vs. Dolphins (1u, 1a)… Registered career-best 10 total tackles at Chattanooga (7u, 3a), tying John Stevenson for team lead in that game… Total vs. Mocs included three solo tackles in overtime… Had six total tackles (5u, 1a) at The Ctitadel… Paired up with Blake Riley to stifle Elon’s first offensive drive of that contest… Denied Phoenix Aaron Mellette in third quarter with pass breakup… Made two solo tackles against both Furman and Appalachian State… Added two pass breakups vs. Howard to his regular-season total… One of the top three Eagle defenders in playoff action with four solo and one assisted tackle in each of the three postseason games… Seven total pass breakups included two at North Dakota State.
 
SOPHOMORE (2011): Played in 13 games with 12 starts... Missed just the Samford (9/3) game... Finished fifth on the team with 60 tackles... Also posted one tackle for loss, an interception, three pass breakups, and a fumble recovery... Recorded a season-high eight tackles at Alabama (11/19)... Posted second highest total of the season with seven stops at North Dakota State (12/17)... Recorded six stops against Chattanooga (10/8) and Presbyterian (10/22)... Recovered a fumble and returned it 27 yards in the FCS Playoff opener against Old Dominion (12/3)... Made three stops in his season debut against Tusculum (9/10)... Recorded four tackles and a stop behind the line of scrimmage at Appalachian State (10/29).
 
FRESHMAN (2010): Recorded solo tackle in Savannah State game in first collegiate action... tallied career-best seven tackles at Furman (5U, 2A)... assisted tackle at Navy... had one interception against The Citadel to go along with four solo tackles...had two tackles for loss against the Bulldogs in shutout win ... tied for team lead in tackles with six with Derek Heyden against Tribe in NCAA playoff game... had second interception of the year in playoff victory over S.C. State... picked up seven starts at corner and played in 13 games.
 
PREP: Earned first-team All-Region honors as a junior and second-team all-region honors as a senior... team captain as a senior... led Raiders in interceptions in 2008... voted best defensive back for Riverdale for 2008 season... placed second in triple jump and fifth in long jump at Regional 4-AAAAA track meet... coached by Nick Davis.
