STATESBOROÂ - Georgia Southern Baseball split a Saturday doubleheader with No. 9 Georgia. The Eagles dropped the opener 4-2, but circled the wagons and took a 10-7 win in the finale on Saturday night. The win over a Top-10 team is the first since May 30, 2014, when the Eagles defeated No. 4 Florida State in the Tallahassee Regional.
GAME TWO - GS 10 - UGA 7
Georgia Southern avoided the sweep with a 10-7 win over the Bulldogs in Saturday's second game. The story of the game was written in the sixth inning when the Eagles plated seven runs off zero hits, three walks, three hit batters and a costly three-base error that plated three runs. The Eagles sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning and turned a 6-3 deficit into a 10-6 lead.
Georgia took an early 3-0 lead with a five hit first frame. The Eagles answered in the third with two runs off a
Tyler Martin double down the left field line. The visitors got those two runs back with a pair in the fourth off a Maxwell triple to drive in two. A solo home run in the fifth made it a 6-2 Bulldog advantage.
Steven Curry's first hit by pitch of the night placed a duck on the pond in the fifth. He moved to second on a single and around to third on a balk.
Chandler Davis grounded out to second, cutting the lead to three after five frames, setting the table for the big inning in the sixth.
Georgia whittled away at the Georgia Southern advantage in the seventh, cashing in a leadoff walk for a run. After the run scored, the birthday boy,
Hayden Harris came on and recorded the final eight outs to earn his first save of the season.
Steven Curry was the star of game two for the Eagles offensively, tallying two of the four Georgia Southern hits with an RBI and three runs scored. He was hit twice in the game, giving him six for the season and 48 in his career, good for fifth place on the Georgia Southern career list.
In total, the Eagles were hit by a season-high six pitches and 10 total over the three game series. Georgia Southern worked seven walks in the contest, one off a season-high.
GAME ONE - GS 2 - UGA 4
The Eagles came out on the short end of a 4-2 line in Saturday's first game. Georgia took a 2-0 lead in the second inning with two runs off two hits. The Eagles took advantage of a leadoff walk in the third to cut the lead in half at 2-1.
Georgia got a solo home run in the fourth to extend the lead to 3-1. Another insurance run crossed the plate in the seventh to make it a 4-1 lead for the visitors. The Eagles sliced a run off the Georgia lead in the eighth inning, getting a run off two hits while stranding a pair.

Matt Anderson, cutting the lead to 4-2.
Offensively the Eagles posted six hits with seven walks and two hit batters, stranding a total of 13 runners on base.
