"We are very excited to compete this weekend. Our team has been working very hard leading up to this event, and I know that they are all very excited for the opportunities which lie ahead," said Head Coach Michele Stanford. "From a coaches perspective, there is going to be some very strong competition, and I am looking forward to watching the girls compete."
Competition will begin Friday at 8 a.m. as Junior Mary Phillips Smith and Freshman Anne Kurzweil take the court against the University of Georgia duo of Herring/Garcia. In B Doubles action, the tandem of Senior Jordana Klein and Sophomore Giulia Riepe received a bye in the round of 16 and will face the duo of Stojiic/Liang of the University of Florida in the round of 8. A specific start time for their quarterfinal match is still to be determined, but will be contested sometime Saturday.
Coach Stanford went on to say, "These four always bring great energy to the court, especially in doubles. They have been focusing on being more aggressive, and I know they are looking forward to using everything that they have been working towards in competition this weekend. It is going to be a great tournament for the eagles!"
All four Eagles will also see action in Singles competition Friday, however, times are tentative for all matches as they will not begin play until the completion of three rounds of doubles play.
In the A Singles Draw, Klein will square off against Paige Hourigan of Georgia Tech while Smith will do battle against Yana Kroleva of Florida International University. In the B Singles Draw, Riepe will compete against Marisa Ruiz of Florida Atlantic University while Kurzweil received a bye in the round of 32 to advance automatically to the round of 16.
