Michele Stanford

Three Seasons at Georgia Southern
Record at Georgia Southern:
 33-29
Record in Sun Belt Play: 5-10

Michele Stanford was promoted to head coach of the Georgia Southern Eagles on Sept. 12, 2014, leading the program into the Sun Belt Conference. In her first season at the helm, her team posted 10 wins, including three in conference.

During the 2016-17 season the Eagles got off to a hot start, winning five of their first six matches. The Blue and White would finish the season 11-12, competing against two top-25 ranked opponents. The Eagles posted their first conference tournament victory under Coach Stanford and the first since moving to the Sun Belt in 2014, defeating Appalachian State 4-3 in a thriller.

Stanford served as an assistant coach in 2013-14 for Amy Bonner and helped the program post 10 overall wins and four conference victories. GSU opened the season with three-straight victories and won six of the last eight matches to close out the 2013-14 campaign.

Stanford came to GSU after a standout career at Furman University. During her four-year career with the Paladins, she posted 39 wins in singles competition. Stanford was selected as the Southern Conference Sportsmanship Award winner in 2013 and served as a team captain as a senior. She is a native of Canton, Georgia.

Stanford graduated from Furman in 2013 with a double major in religion and health sciences, and received a master's degree in sport management from Georgia Southern University.
