STATESBORO, Ga. - Jordan Jackson picked up his second win of the season, pitching six innings and allowing two hits, as Georgia Southern shutout Radford 8-0. The Eagles improved to 4-4 on the season, while the Highlanders fell to 3-6 on the season.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to Noah Searcy single and a Christian Avant groundout. GS tacked on another run in the second as Mason McWhorter drove in his first of three runs, with a double down the line in right. 
Jackson continued to deal, not allowing a hit until the fifth inning. Jackson would be removed after the sixth and Tyler Owens would continue the Eagle dominance on the mound, allowing one hit in his two innings of work. Jake Martin came in to close the game out in the ninth allowing a hit and then working a double play ball to put the pressure on Radford.
The Eagles scored two more runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-0, before adding another in the sixth and two more in the eighth to solidify the victory. Game two of the series will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

BOTTOM 6th | GS 6 - RAD 0 | McWhorter doubled to left field and drove in Blake Evans to extend the lead.
BOTTOM 8th | GS 8 - RAD 0 | McWhorter singled to left field scoring Evans from second. Later in the inning Matt Anderson flied out to right field and scored Curry.
