Tyler Owens

Owens is in his second year with the Georgia Southern baseball staff, his first year assuming the role of Director of Player Development and Baseball Operations. In this position, Owens oversees team budget and creates travel itineraries, organizes practice schedules, and much more of the team's day-to-day organization.

Prior to taking on the aforementioned role, Owens served as a graduate assistant for the baseball team during the second year of his masters program, where he helped coach pitchers in the bullpen.

Before working for the team, Owens was a pitcher for the Eagles from 2019 to 2021, transferring in from East Georgia State College. Owens was a standout pitcher for the Eagles, and put up great numbers, including his graduate season where he struck out 74 batters in 77 innings of work. During his three years at Georgia Southern, Owens posted a 16-3 record with a 3.53 ERA, 142 strikeouts, and only allowed batters to bat .242 against him.

Born in Augusta, Ga., and a native of Sylvania, Ga., Owens currently resides in Statesboro. He is the son of Regina and Timmy Owens and has one brother, Trenton Owens.
