THE OPENING TIP
- Georgia Southern men's basketball played its most complete game on Saturday evening, knocking off Marshall in front of a national audience, 101-87, at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center. The Eagles built a 17-point lead in the first half, knocking down 10 three-pointers and collected the highest point total in the first half under head coach Charlie Henry. Additionally, Georgia Southern cracked the century mark for the second time this season, collecting the most points under coach Henry, 101.
- The Eagles enter the weekend as one of three teams in the country to play its final four contests on the road. The Eagles join Southern Indiana and Mississippi Valley State, as the only three programs to endure a four-game road trip to close out the season. Georgia Southern looks to climb up the conference standings during that stretch, earning extra days off in the conference tournament in Pensacola, Florida, to begin the month of March.
- Senior Forward Shainen Carter moved into ninth all-time in a single season for blocks, recording two against Appalachian State on Wednesday. Carter needs one block to continue to climb the top 10 list, chasing Avante Parker (2023-24), who recorded 40.
- Georgia Southern's seniors would not let the ship sink on senior night in The Hill, as the seven guys honored before the contest combined to score 95-of-101 points the Eagles produced against Marshall. Led by graduate Tyren Moore with 32 points, the Eagles used a 59-point first half to secure a 17-point lead over the Thundering Herd. Spudd Webb added 18 points, while Jefferson Koulibaly (16), Alden Applewhite (14), Nakavieon White (10), Andres Burney (4), and Shainen Carter (1) rounded out the seniors scoring. The win snapped a five-game losing streak at home and closed the home slate with a 9-5 record at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center. The nine wins are the most in The Hill after Georgia Southern posted an 8-2 record at home following the midyear move to The Hill on December 7, 2024.
- Graduate Tyren Moore saved one of his best performances for the home crowd, scoring 32 points on senior night, as the Eagles' seniors tallied 95-of-101 points scored. Moore, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, spent two seasons with head coach Charlie Henry, before transferring to UAB for his senior year. For the 2025-26 season, he returned to Statesboro and coach Henry to lead a team filled with new faces. His 21 points in the first half against the Herd were the most by an Eagle this season, surpassing his 19 scored against Coastal Carolina (1/17), a game where he went on to score 34 points, two off his career high. Moore collected a new career high eight three-pointers in the win, surpassing his two seven three-point performance nights. Additionally, the 30-point effort was the seventh of his tenured career. With his outing against Marshall, Moore passed Kaiden Latham (1998-2002) for D1 points at Georgia Southern, 21st out of 29 players. He is quickly approaching the following former Eagles: Terry Williams (1,263 – 2001-05), Donte Gennie (1,288 – 2003-07), and Willie Powers III (1,321 – 2007-12).
- Georgia Southern men's basketball has been one of the more prolific scoring teams in the Sun Belt Conference since joining the league during the 2014-15 season. In the 12 years since the Eagles' arrival, Georgia Southern has posted a 44-3 record when scoring 90-plus points in a game. For the 2025-26 season, the Eagles have secured a 9-0 record when tallying 90-plus points per game and are now 2-0 this season when scoring 100-plus points.
