PENSACOLA, Fla. – Georgia Southern men's basketball (21-15, 8-10 SBC) will play for the Sun Belt Conference Championship for the second time in program history, defeating Marshall, 82-78, at the Pensacola Bay Center. It marks the first title game since the Eagles joined the league in 2014-15.
The Blue and White became just the third team in NCAA history to win five games on consecutive days, joining NC State in 2024, and UConn in 2011. Offensively, the Eagles were paced by Spudd Webb who collected 31 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while adding 13-of-14 free throw attempts. Andres Burney joined in on the action, collecting his first double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing a season high 11 rebounds.
The Eagles held a seven-point advantage at the break, before Marshall erased that deficit and grew its lead to four points. The Eagles continued to chip away at the lead before regaining it with 1:24 left on the clock. Spudd Webb would find his way to the free throw line twice down the stretch, going 4-of-4 to solidify the victory.
