
Georgia Southern's Historic Run Comes to a Close Against Troy

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Georgia Southern men's basketball (21-16, 8-10 SBC) saw its historic season and tournament run come to an end in the Sun Belt Championship game, as Troy (22-11, 12-6 SBC) defeated the Eagles, 77-61, at the Pensacola Bay Center.
The Eagles were paced by Spudd Webb who tallied 16 points, but the Blue and White trailed by 13 at the break, shooting 30.8 percent and 25 percent from three-point range. The Eagles came out of half on a mission, cutting the deficit to as low as four points during a span on three and a half minutes, before the Trojans continued to find paint touches, outscoring the Eagles 50-22 in the paint.
Georgia Southern became the third team in NCAA history to win five games in five days, downing Old Dominion, Arkansas State, South Alabama, Coastal Carolina, and Marshall. Additionally, the Eagles set a tournament record for total points, field goals made, three-pointers made, rebounds, and assists.
Graduate Tyren Moore, Spudd Webb, and redshirt senior Alden Applewhite were named to the Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tyren Moore opened the scoring for the Eagles with a three-pointer from the wing, before Troy used an 8-0 run to take a five-point advantage, 8-3.
- At the under-eight-minute media timeout, Troy extended its lead to the largest of the evening at nine points, holding the Eagles scoreless for 3:20 of action, 20-11.
- With under three minutes to play in the first half, Troy extended its lead to 14 points, making five consecutive baskets, 32-18.
- At the break, Georgia Southern was held to 31 percent shooting and 25 percent from three-point range, as the Trojans held a 13-point advantage, 38-25.
- Georgia Southern came out of the break smoking hot, cutting the 13-point deficit to four, after a flurry of threes to open the half, 39-35.
