
Moore Scores 40, Eagles Advance to Sun Belt Conference Semifinals Sunday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Georgia Southern men's basketball (20-15, 8-10 SBC) rolled to its fourth victory in as many days, defeating Coastal Carolina (19-13, 11-7 SBC), 96-72, en route to the first semifinals appearance under the new tournament format.
With the win on Saturday, head coach Charlie Henry has his first career 20-win season, the first 20-plus win season in program history since 2019-20.
Graduate Tyren Moore had a career performance against the Chanticleers, shooting 16-of-27 from the field, including 7-of-14 from behind the arc. The 40-point performance is the highest for the Eagles and set a new career best for Moore.
Georgia Southern led by as many as 25 points in the second half, coasting to victory over the third-seeded Chanticleers. It is the third time this tournament run that the Eagles knocked out a higher seed.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Georgia Southern picked up where they left off last night, stretching its lead to nine as Tyren Moore knocked down three of his first four three-point attempts of the evening, 14-5.
- At the second media timeout of the half, the Eagles continued to shoot from beyond the arc as six of the eight makes in the first nine minutes came from deep, including four from Tyren Moore, 24-13.
- At the under-eight-minute media timeout, Georgia Southern continued to be crippled by fouls beyond the three-point arc, gifting Coastal Carolina an 11-of-13 line at the stripe, 32-27.
- A 14-0 run by the Chanticleers gave Coastal Carolina a three-point advantage before Nakavieon White found his way to the free throw stripe, 35-32.
- Behind 22 first-half points by Tyren Moore the Eagles regained the lead at the break, after shooting 55.2 percent from the field, 45-42.
- Georgia Southern opened the second half, outscoring the Chanticleers 14-4 and forcing two turnovers to push its lead to the largest of the night at 13, 59-46.
- Tyren Moore drained his seventh three-pointer of the night, collecting 32 points as the Chanticleers were forced to take a timeout, 67-48.
- With just over two minutes to go, Tyren Moore collected 40 points on the night, a new career high, 89-68.
