
Seniors Shine as Georgia Southern Races Past Marshall Saturday

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball (15-12, 7-7 SBC) seniors combined for 95 of the Eagles 101 points, as the Eagles raced past Marshall (14-13, 7-7 SBC), 101-87, in front of a national audience at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
Graduate Tyren Moore scored 32 points, knocking down a career-high eight three pointers, including a season-high 21 points in the first half. Georgia Southern used a fast start to build a 59-42 halftime lead and held off Marshall's second-half push to secure the home victory.
Moore shot 11-of-19 from the field and connected on eight three-pointers to lead all scorers. Spudd Webb added 18 points, nine free throws, and seven rebounds, while Jefferson Koulibaly scored 16 points on four three-pointers. Alden Applewhite collected his fifth double-double of the season, tallying 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Marshall was led by Jalen Speer with 20 points, while Wyatt Fricks and Landen Joseph each scored 17. The Thundering Herd shot 50 percent in the second half, but Georgia Southern's defensive stand, help hold of the Herd.
Georgia Southern finished with four players in double figures and shot efficiently throughout, topping the 100-point mark of for the first time in conference play this season, and the second time all year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Through the first five minutes of action, Georgia Southern and Marshall traded buckets, as the Thundering Herd secured a three-point advantage with Nakavieon White stepping to the line for two free throws, 10-7.
- A 15-2 run by the Eagles, powered by Spudd Webb, stretched the Georgia Southern lead to eight points. Minutes later, Jefferson Koulibaly converted on a three-point and-one opportunity to put the Eagles up nine, 27-18.
- Georgia Southern opened up the ballgame at the under four-minute media timeout, shooting 8-of-13 from beyond the arc, 43-33, as Tyren Moore knocked down four threes.
- At the break, Georgia Southern was red hot from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 three pointers and shooting 84.6 percent from the free throw line, 59-42.
- Georgia Southern stretched its lead to the largest at the time to 24 points, as Tyren Moore tied a career high with his seventh three-pointer of the evening, 73-49.
- Marshall clawed back into the game, cutting the Eagles lead to 16 points after a technical foul was assessed to the Eagles, 77-61.
- The Eagles crossed the 90-point mark for the first time since Old Dominion on the road, extending their lead to 94-76.

- Georgia Southern erupted out of the gates, scoring 59 points in the first half, the most under head coach Charlie Henry. That tally included 10-first half three-pointers.
- Tyren Moore went into the break on Saturday, scoring 21 points against the Thundering Herd. He held the previous best for the team this season, scoring 19 against Coastal Carolina (1/17), a game where he went on to score 34 points, two off his career high set in 2024 against Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Tournament. Moore collected a new career high eight three pointers in the win, surpassing his two seven-point performances during his career. The 30-point performance was the seventh of his tenured career and this one came on senior night.
- Since its arrival to the Sun Belt Conference in 2014-15, Georgia Southern has posted a 44-3 record when scoring 90-plus points in a game. For the 2025-26 season, the Eagles have secured a 9-0 record when tallying 90-plus points per game and 2-0 when topping 100.
- The 101 points scored on Saturday evening, were the most under head coach Charlie Henry, surpassing the Eagles 100-point effort against Coastal Georgia. The 100-point game was the 131st in the program's history.
- Redshirt senior Alden Applewhite collected his fifth double-double of the season, tallying 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
- Georgia Southern won the rebounding battle for the seventh time this season, improving to 6-1 on the year.
- The Eagles tied the season-high for three-pointers made, knocking down 15 in the win over Marshall.
- Saturday's contest marked the first nationally televised game inside the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
