Eagles Drop Saturday Matchup with Bulls, 13-5
Statesboro, Ga --- The Georgia Southern baseball team (3-3,0-0 SBC) fell their second straight contest against the South Florida Bulls (4-2, 0-0 AAC), 13-5, on Saturday afternoon (February 22nd).

The big inning once again proved to be a problem for the Eagles as two straight singles and a walk issued to USF allowed for an eventual four-run inning in which half of those came on an error by the Eagle left fielder. The Bulls next go around at the plate saw them add on two more as another walk followed by a double led to a run coming in off a wild pitch. The same batter, Jackson Mayo, slapped a single through the right side to add on another.

Georgia Southern was able avoid the shutout in the third as after JD Kaiser sat on third after getting hit by a pitch, Josh Tate mashed a triple down the left line for his only base knock of the day. Then, in the bottom of the fifth for the Eagles, Daniel Haab crushed a solo home run with two outs to left-center, as it traveled 435 feet.

The very next inning, the Eagles passed it to a one-run game as two straight sacrifice flies, followed by an RBI double by Kaiser put the score at 6-5. Unfortunately, the Eagles would give up seven unanswered runs in the final two innings, and adding seven hits to their 13 total on the afternoon. For the Eagles, they would only put up six hits and had three errors.

Southern looks to steal one from the Bulls in the final game of the series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium where fans are encouraged to dress in their PJs for a Pajama Party.
