SERIES PREVIEW: Baseball Hosts South Alabama to Begin Conference Play

GS and USA face off for the first time since GS swept the Jaguars in Mobile last season
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team will host the South Alabama Jaguars for a three-game tilt beginning on Friday, March 17, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. from J.I. Clements Stadium. This will be the conference opener for both squads.
Georgia Southern and South Alabama meet for the first time since their series last season in Mobile, Ala., where the Eagles earned its first-ever sweep of the Jaguars in school history, along with winning the first series in Mobile against USA in school history.
Both squads come into the series with sub-.500 records, as USA holds a 8-9 record after falling to Alabama in midweek action. Georgia Southern comes in with a 7-10 record after falling to Kennesaw State last Tuesday at J.I. Clements Stadium.
Georgia Southern will throw left-hander Ty Fisher (1-1, 3.00 ERA) on Friday evening, righty Ben Johnson (3-1, 5.31 ERA) on Saturday, and have not announced a Sunday starter. USA will start righty Jeremy Lee (0-2, 4.58 ERA), lefty Gehrig Conrad (0-3, 2.84 ERA), and righty Mitchell Heer (0-0, 2.70 ERA).
