STATESBORO – The 21
st-ranked Georgia Southern baseball team will host the first-ever Statesboro Regional at J.I. Clements Stadium beginning on Friday, June 3. The pool includes No. 2 seed Notre Dame, No. 3 seed Texas Tech, and No. 4 seed UNCG.
Georgia Southern finished the regular season with a 40-18 record after going 2-1 in the Sun Belt Championships in Montgomery, Alabama. The Eagles were selected to host a regional for the first time in program history, earning the 16
th national seed and getting paired up with the Knoxville Regional. The winners in Knoxville and Statesboro will get paired with each other for a Super Regional series on June 10-13.
Four Eagles earned All-Sun Belt honors, capping an outstanding regular season. Second baseman
Jesse Sherrill and designated-hitter
Noah Ledford both earned All-SBC First Team honors, while first baseman
Jason Swan and pitcher
Jay Thompson earned All-SBC Second Team honors.

Jesse Sherrill all earned SBC All-Tournament honors after the SBC Championship this past weekend.
The Sun Belt will be sending four teams to the NCAA Regionals, highlighted with No. 16 National Seed Georgia Southern hosting the Statesboro Regional. Other SBC schools in regionals include Texas State (#2, Stanford Regional), Coastal Carolina (#3, Greenville Regional) and Louisiana (#3, College Station Regional).
Georgia Southern's first game is Friday night at 7 p.m., but the action starts with No. 3 Texas Tech and No. 2 Notre Dame at 2 p.m. the same day.

th-ranked Notre Dame finished the regular season with a 35-14 overall record, going 18-12 in ACC play. ND finished the regular season with a loss to North Carolina during the ACC Championship Semifinals. LHP John Michael Bertrand and outfielder Ryan Cole both won All-ACC honors, with Bertrand earning first team honors and Cole earning third-team honors. If the Eagles and the Fighting Irish play this weekend, it would be the first meeting between the two teams in program history.
RESEARCHING THE RED RAIDERS
This season is the first time since 2016 that Texas Tech will not play a regional at Dan Law Field in Lubbock, Texas. The 24
th-ranked Red Raiders come into Statesboro with a 37-20 overall record and a 15-9 Big XII record, falling to Kansas State in the Big XII Championship semifinals. Several Red Raiders earned Big XII postseason honors, including RHP Brandon Birdsell earning Pitcher of the Year honors and catcher Hudson White earning Freshman of the Year honors. If the Eagles and the Red Raiders play this weekend, it would be the first meeting between the two teams in program history.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG finished the regular season with a 34-28 record, going 12-9 in Southern Conference play. UNCG was able to earn the SoCon's auto-bid to the NCAA Regionals after winning five games in three days to win the SoCon Championship, taking down top-seeded Wofford twice on Sunday to win the championship. 2B Hogan Windish was named the SoCon Coaches Player of the Year and Alex Hoppe was named SoCon Coaches and Media Pitcher of the Year, highlighting their 16 selections for SoCon postseason awards. The Eagles and the Spartans are reigniting an evenly-matched SoCon rivalry, where GS held a narrow 29-27 edge in the overall series.
