STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team has earned national rankings from some of the largest and most well-known polls in Division I baseball.
D1Baseball has ranked the Eagles at No. 25, marking the first time since March 2013 that the Eagles have made an appearance in a national poll. The Eagles are the second Sun Belt team ranked by D1Baseball, with 17
th-ranked Texas State being the only other SBC member in the poll.
Baseball America ranks GS at No. 19, which is two spots above 21
st-ranked Texas State, a team the Eagles took the series from in San Marcos. BA's ranking marks the highest the Eagles have been ranked since 1996.
The Eagles are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, for a total of 48 points. This would put the team at No. 32 in the rankings, but the poll only ranks the top 25 teams.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has ranked Georgia Southern at No. 29 in their poll, after weeks of receiving votes in the poll. The Eagles midweek opponent, Florida State, is ranked at No. 26 in the NCBWA poll.
The Eagles turn their attention to a four-game road trip, starting on Wednesday, April 20, when they travel to Tallahassee, Florida, to take on the Florida State Seminoles. First pitch is set for 7 pm ET. After that, the Eagles will fly to Mobile, Alabama, for a three game Sun Belt Conference series against the South Alabama Jaguars. The series begins on Friday, April 22.
