STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Baseball scored nine unanswered runs to take a 9-2 win over South Alabama on Friday night. The win snapped an eight game losing streak against the Jaguars, dating back to the 2017 season.
Noah Ledford drove in four runs for the Eagles with a pair of bases loaded knocks. Game two between the Eagles and Jaguars is set for Saturday at 3 p.m.

Tyler Martin was on the scene to get the ball in and throw a runner out at the plate attempting to score, keeping the lead to 2-0.
BOT 4TH | USA 2 - GS 2 | Three walks in the fourth put Eagles on the pond, allowing J.P. Tighe to drive in a pair of runs with a single up the middle.
BOT 5TH | USA 2 - GS 8 | Georgia Southern hung a crooked number in the fifth inning, scoring six runs off five hits in an inning that saw three different South Alabama pitchers. A
Steven Curry single up the middle was driven around by a Martin single and a RBI knock from
Noah Ledford to left.
Jason Swan drove in two more with a single up the middle. Two walks loaded the bases again for Tighe who singled down the left field line, scoring two more.
Blake Evans finished off the scoring when he reached on a fielder's choice, making the lead 8-2.

Mason Miller got the centerfielder into scoring position. After moving up on a ground ball to second, Miller scored on a wild pitch to tack on the insurance run.

Steven Curry got a first inning walk to extend his reached base streak to 37 straight games, the longest such streak since the Eagles joined the Sun Belt Conference.

Seth Shuman delivered his third-straight quality start, improving to 6-4 on the year. The junior allowed two runs off six hits with four walks. The native of Valdosta fanned four in the game, and has won his last five starts.

Noah Ledford led the way for the Eagles with a 3-for-5 game.
- Freshman backstop J.P. Tighe went 2-for-4, driving in a career-high four runs.
- South Alabama's final pitcher,
Hunter Phillips, is a familiar name for fans of the Eagles. Phillips pitched in 2016 and was a member of the 2017 team before leaving the program. He pitched the final inning and a third for the Jags, working around a Ledford double off the base of the wall.
- Georgia Southern's win kept them in first place, a half-game ahead of Coastal Carolina who defeated Georgia State 27-2 on Friday night.
