Layup Line
• Georgia Southern caps its appearance in the Palmetto State Shootout by playing host to Bob Jones Monday at 7 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse.
• The Eagles are 1-1 in the tournament, which began last Wednesday at the Hodge Center in Spartanburg, S.C. Georgia Southern lost a neutral site game to The Citadel 95-90 and topped host USC Upstate 84-80 Friday evening.
• Bob Jones, which is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, is 1-1 in the tournament with an 83-79 win at USC Upstate and a 121-81 setback to The Citadel. After starting the season 6-0, the Bruins have dropped their last two.
• It's Georgia Southern's second home contest this season and first since the opener, a 116-49 win over Webber International Nov. 13.
• Bob Jones is 3-0 on the road this season.
• Dustin Killough leads the Bruins in scoring with a 14.9 average, and Marshall Riddle averages 14.6 points a contest. Kyle Turner averages 10.5 points and 10.3 rebounds.
• Georgia Southern returns just four scholarship letterwinners from last season's 22-9 team that advanced to the Sun Belt Conference Championship game.
• With 11-of-12 scholarship student-athletes who are freshmen, redshirt freshmen or sophomores (92 percent), Georgia Southern has the highest percentage of underclassmen on its current roster of the 345 NCAA Division I squads. Liberty (91 percent), Ohio State (85 percent), Fairleigh Dickinson (85 percent) and Wyoming (80 percent) round out the top-5.
• Georgia Southern lost 76 percent of its scoring and 72 percent of its rebounding from last season.
• The Eagles were picked 10th in the Preseason Sun Belt Conference Coaches Poll.

Quick Hitters
• After not playing an SEC opponent since a 78-75 loss to Auburn Dec. 30, 2011, the Eagles have faced two this season. Georgia Southern fell 82-72 at Ole Miss Nov. 16 and 92-62 at Auburn Nov. 20.
• The Eagles are averaging 84.8 points a game this season. Georgia Southern scored 80-plus points in just six contests last year.
• Georgia Southern was close to setting some school milestones in its 116-49 win over Webber International in the season opener Nov. 13.
• The 116 points were tied for the 16th most all-time and the most since a 116-73 neutral site win over UC Davis Nov. 12, 2006, which was the 2006-07 season opener.
• The Eagles' 40 3-point attempts tied for the second-the most in school history (West Georgia, 1/2/1992).

Season Tickets
• Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at GSEagles.com/tickets. Season ticket options are available for both general admission and reserved seating. Fans can enjoy chair-back seats in the reserved sections for $90 a season ticket for either men's or women's basketball. Alternatively, general admission season tickets are $65 and are located behind the baskets on bleachers. A combo package is also available for $120 and includes both men's and women's basketball contests.
Eagles Sign Quan Jackson
Mark Byington has announced that Quan Jackson (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Georgia Southern and compete for the Eagles.
• A 6-foot-3 guard, Jackson helped lead Godby to a state championship last season and averaged 16.5 points, four rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.3 assists a contest. He hit a 3-pointer late in the semifinal game to send it into overtime and was named MVP of the state tournament.
• Jackson was the Big Bend Conference Co-Player of the Year and first-team all-league. According to Source Hoops, he is the 18th-ranked prospect in the state of Florida, and he played AAU for Team Speights in the summer.

Preseason All-Sun Belt
Mike Hughes was named fourth-team Preseason All-Sun Belt by College Sports Madness. Hughes averaged 7.6 points and 4.9 rebounds a game, started every contest and finished second on the team in assists (70) and steals (40).

• Five Eagle student-athletes' fathers played and/or coached college basketball.
Jake Allsmiller's dad, Brian, played at Vanderbilt (1978-81); Devonte and Devince Boykins' father, Robert, played at Johnson C. Smith (1992-95); Shawn O'Connell's father, Dave, played at Duke (1973-76); Jason Burnell's dad, Frank, is the head coach at Edward Waters College in Florida and is in his fifth season. He played at Stetson from 1981-85.
Aubrey McRae's father, Travis, coached him at Glenn Hills High School.

Boarding the Mothership
• Twelve Georgia Southern games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of Networks this season.
• Games at No. 4 Duke (12/15) and Georgia State (2/23) will air on ESPN2. 
• Seven Sun Belt contests will be broadcast live on ESPN3, and the Eagles' game at USC Upstate Nov. 27 was shown on ESPN3.
• The matchups at Ole Miss and Auburn were shown on the SEC Network +. 

Next Up
• Georgia Southern makes the short trek to Savannah State Wednesday for an 8 p.m. contest against the Tigers.
• It will be the first meeting between the schools on the hardwood since 2005.
• The Eagle women's team plays Savannah State at 6 p.m. in the first game of the doubleheader featuring the two schools.
