Stanford Takes Over the Reigns
Assistant coach Michele Stanford takes over the reigns of the Women's Tennis program after the July departure of Amy Bonner, who had served as the head coach for the past 10 seasons. Stanford was promoted to head coach on Sept. 12 after helping the program to a 10-11 record with a 4-5 mark in conference play. Stanford came to Georgia Southern after a standout playing career at Furman University.
Eagles Join the Sun Belt
The Georgia Southern women's tennis team begins their first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. League play starts on March 7 against Arkansas St. in Atlanta, Ga. The Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be held April 16-19 in New Orleans, La.
Experienced Roster
The Eagles return seven student-athletes from the 2013-14 campaign and add in three newcomers to the mix. GSU brings back almost their entire singles lineup including lone senior Jordana Klein. Klein, a transfer from Murray St., went 6-8 at the #2 singles position and was 8-9 in doubles play a year ago.
