KENNESAW, Ga. - Georgia Southern senior Jordana Klein topped Kennesaw State's Alexandra Mercado 6-3, 6-0 to win third place in the Flight A Singles at the Kennesaw State Fall Classic Saturday afternoon.
Junior Isabel Dennis fell 6-2, 6-4 to Erin Patton of Murray State in the Flight C finals, and junior Mary Phillips Smith, who won 6-3, 6-4 in the consolation semifinals of the Flight A Singles, fell 6-2, 6-2 in the consolation final.
Sophomore Giulia Riepe lost 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 to Virginie Tchakarova of Murray State in the Flight B Singles third-place match, and junior Francisca Norregaard lost 6-3, 6-3 to Gabriela Bueno of Kennesaw State in Flight C consolation finals.
In doubles action, the Eagle team of freshman Anne Kurzweil and sophomore Daria Vasekina fell 8-6 in the third-place match.
It was the first action of the fall season for the Eagles, who host the Georgia Southern Invitational Oct. 3-5, in their next tournament.
