
Klein, Kurzweil Win Flights

Day One Recap
STATESBORO, Ga. - Senior Jordana Klein and freshman Anne Kurzweil both posted singles flight championship victories as the Georgia Southern women's tennis team wrapped up competition in the Georgia Southern Invite.
Klein defeated Bea Rosen (Emory) 6-3, 6-1 and Katarina Su (Emory) 7-5, 6-4 in the Flight 1A Singles final to win her first flight of the fall tournament season.
Kurzweil rebounded from a 0-3 Kennesaw Fall Classic to win the 1B Singles Flight championship. Kurzweil defeated Presybterian's Claire-Mitchell Andrews (6-2, 0-6, 6-4) and her teammate Giulia Riepe in the final.
Kurzweil and Daria Vasekina posted a runner up finish in the 1 Doubles flight. The tandem won a pair of matches against Andrews and Brittany Nuttall (Presbyterian) and Anna Fuhr and Su (Emory) to reach the final. Rosen and Melissa Goodman (Emory) defeated the Eagles' pair 8-6.
Mary Phillips Smith finished in seventh place in the 1A Singles flight after knocking off Presbyterian's Nuttall 6-3, 6-0.
In the 2A Singles flight, Francisca Norregaard and Daria Vasekina both reached the semifinals before falling to Julie Fowler and Bridget Harding, both of Emory, respectively. Isabel Dennis reached the semifinals of the 2B singles flight before falling to Fuhr 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action Riepe and Smith won the consolation final with an 8-2 victory over Emory's Michelle Satterfield and Bridget Harding.
The women's tennis team returns to action on October 17-20 at ITA Regional in Atlanta, Ga.
