Glynn Cyprien

Glynn Cyprien is in his first season as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff at Georgia Southern.

Cyprien comes to Statesboro with nearly three decades of experience between the NBA, the NBA G League, the NCAA Division I, the Junior Olympic and the International levels and is widely considered as one of the top coaches and top recruiters in the country. He has served as a head coach, an associate head coach and an assistant coach during his career in addition to extensive executive office experience with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies.

Cyprien, Burg and current Eagle assistant coach Tim MacAllister worked together on the Texas Tech staff under Chris Beard that led the Red Raiders to the 2019 NCAA National Championship final and the program's first Big 12 Conference regular-season championship. The Red Raiders recorded the program's winningest season in program history by going 31-7.

Cyprien has amassed 535 victories over his 27 seasons at the collegiate level. He has been a part of 12 NCAA Tournaments and four NITs, including a trip to the 2004 NCAA Final Four at Oklahoma State. Over his last 20 collegiate seasons, Cyprien has been associated with 18 winning seasons and 12 campaigns with 20-plus victories. His international experience includes a stint as an assistant coach for the Nigerian National Team in the 2019 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup in China.

Cyprien served as the head coach of the NBA G League’s Memphis Hustle in 2017-18 and the Iowa Energy in 2016-17 and was one of four coaches chosen to hold head coaching duties at the 2018 NBA G League Elite Combine. He has played a vital role in the recruitment and development of numerous players who have elevated their basketball skills to successful professional careers such as former NBA players Tony Allen, Will Barton, Patrick Beverley, Alex Caruso, DeAndre Liggins, Shawn Marion, Jodie Meeks, Khris Middleton and Patrick Patterson.

A native of New Orleans, Cyprien lettered two seasons as a player at Southern University-New Orleans. He also served as head coach of the Louisiana Junior Olympic Team in 1987.  
Cyprien graduated from UTSA in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. He has been a long-time member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Black Coaches Association (BCA). Cyprien and his wife, Monique, have two children: Asia and Kartier.
