JUNIOR (2018): Made seven relief appearances and three starts as a junior… Recorded his first quality start, going six innings at Georgia Tech (3/27), allowing three runs, two earned, but was saddled with the 3-1 loss… Earned his first win of the season on at The Citadel (2/27), allowing one run in two innings of work.

SOPHOMORE (2017): Made the transition to full-time pitcher in the off-season… Made 13 relief appearances and got the start on April 11th against Kennesaw State… Posted a 1-0 record, earning the win against Savannah State on April 4th… Finished with a 4.61 ERA, allowing seven earned runs in 13.2 inning of work… Allowed 13 total runs with 17 strikeouts… Opened the season without allowing a hit or a run in the first 3.2 innings of work… Threw a season-high 36 pitches against Campbell on March 8th, working 2.0 innings.

FRESHMAN (2016): Played as a fielder in 13 games and pitched in six… Started four games as a designated hitter… Had 22 plate appearances on the year… Hit a two RBI double vs. Georgia Tech (2/24)… Pitched 7.0 innings in relief, allowing seven runs in five hits… Struck out six batters… Season-high 2.0 IP and three strikeouts at South Alabama (5/8)… Named to Sun Belt Honor Roll.

PREP: Played for head coach Chad Harper at Emanuel County Institute... Named first team All-State in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and first team All-Region in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015... Picked as Region 3 Baseball Player of the Year in 2015 as well as a 2014 Under Armour All American... Hit .451 as a senior with five home runs and 26 RBIs... Struck out 118 batters with eight wins and a 1.12 ERA on the mound as a senior... Posted 28 home runs and a .461 average over his career... Struck out a school record 354 batters over his career... Won the 2012 GHSAA Class A State Championship in Football... Graduated with honors.

PERSONAL: Born Alden Zachary Cowart in Augusta on April 3, 1997... Son of Jim and Sondra Cowart... Has a sister, Abigail... Both parents attended Georgia Southern.
