Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference (2018)

SOPHOMORE (2018): Named Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference… Served as the Saturday starter throughout the 2018 season, making 15 starts with an 8-5 record… Threw three complete games with the first coming on the road at Southern Miss (3/10), allowing three runs while taking his first collegiate loss after winning his first 10 decisions… Threw a complete game shutout at Little Rock (4/ 8) in the series finale, scattering five hits with eight strikeouts… Went the distance in an elimination game of the Sun Belt Tournament, scattering three hits and allowing one run against UT Arlington (5/24) on just 98 pitches… Finished the year with a 4.41 ERA with 95 strikeouts… Fanned a season-high nine batters on three occasions… Appeared in nine games as a batter, recording a .235 average… Became the first Eagle pitcher to start on the mound and at the plate in game two at Southern Miss, going 1-for-3.

FRESHMAN (2017): Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball News… Made 14 appearances with nine starts, splitting time between Eagle Football and Baseball… Posted an 8-0 record with one save and a 3.34 ERA… Struck out 49 batters… Worked 56.2 innings and held opposing batters to a .251 average… Earned four wins from his first five starts, all in the midweek… Pitched a perfect ninth inning against Appalachian State (4/15) to earn his first collegiate save… Moved to the weekend rotation for the Louisiana series, scattering four hits over 7.2 innings to improve to 5-0… Added weekend wins over Arkansas State and Georgia State to close out the regular season… Pitched two innings of relief against Louisiana, allowing just one hit to take the win over the Ragin' Cajuns… Pitched 3.2 innings two days later, allowing two runs off four hits with four strikeouts.

GS FOOTBALL: Played four games in 2015 as a true freshman at Quarterback, starting against Louisiana... Finished the season 34 of 72 passing for 357 and a touchdown... Had eight carries for 39 yards... Had a 28-yard pass against Appalachian State...  Threw for 228 yards on 21-of-36 passing with a score against UL... Had a long of 53 yards... Had a 15-yard carry against Georgia State to set up a field goal at the end of the first half.

PREP: Played at Valdosta High School under coach Bart Shuman, earning Region 1-6A Pitcher of the Year honors as a senior... Recorded a 1.53 ERA over 59 innings with 80 strikeouts to just 15 walks... Threw a no-hitter against rival Lowndes High School... Was also named first-team all-region as an infielder, batting .313 with 20 walks to just 13 strikeouts and 27 RBIs... Was selected by the Baltimore Orioles 39th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft with the 1,171st pick... Played travel ball with Chain Baseball under coach Andy Buress.

PERSONAL: Born Griffin Seth Shuman on December 1, 1997 in Valdosta, Georgia... Son of Bart and Becky Shuman... Has two siblings, Scott and Sloan... Father (Bart) played Baseball at Valdosta State, winning the 1979 NCAA National Championship... Brother (Scott) was a pitcher at Auburn... Sister (Sloan) was a two-time national champion cheerleader at Valdosta State.
