Georgia Southern battles Kennesaw State and the elements on Friday and Saturday
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis battled in-state foe Kennesaw State and the elements, but fell to the Owls by a 4-2 score at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The match, which began on Friday afternoon amidst high winds and finished late Saturday morning due to rain, saw the Eagles fall to 3-3 on the season, while Kennesaw State improved to 5-3. Georgia Southern will now be next in action on Saturday, February 28, hosting UTSA at 10 AM. The Eagles were supposed to host Samford today, but the rain forecast forced the postponement of that match.
On Friday afternoon, the Owls earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, then took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 4 singles before rains halted action.
Play resumed on Saturday morning at 10:45 am and the Eagles picked up a pair of singles wins to tighten the gap as Davis Taylor earned a straight-set win at No. 5 singles, while Albert Widell took a three-set win at No. 6 singles.
The Owls clinched the victory with three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
