Freshmen Delattre and Willy Mirarchi earn All-Conference singles honors announced Wednesday by the league
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern freshman Gregoire Delattre was named the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Player To Watch, while Delattre and fellow freshman Willy Mirarchi earned All-Conference singles honors after Wednesday's announcement of the league's annual awards.
Delattre becomes only the second Georgia Southern men's tennis player to earn the honor, which is given to an up-and-coming league player who has not, to this point, won a major conference award. The freshman from Le Cateau-Cambresis played No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Eagles, as well as No. 1 doubles all season long; earned All-Sun Belt Conference Tournament honors and was part of the league's Doubles Team of the Week on March 11. He joins Stefano Di Aloy (2016) as Eagles who have been named the league's Player to Watch.
Freshman Willy Mirarchi and Delattre were each named second team All-Conference singles honorees this season as well. Mirarchi put up a team-best 13-4 dual match singles record this Spring and also earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on April 2. The Paderno Dugnano, Italy, native won 10 straight singles matches between February 28 and April 17 and he was an unbeaten 4-0 against Sun Belt opponents during the regular season.
This is the third straight season in which Georgia Southern has had multiple All-Conference honorees in the same year.
Georgia Southern men's tennis finished the season with an 11-9 record, advancing to the Sun Belt Conference tournament semifinals for a third straight year with a squad featuring five freshman, one sophomore and one senior.
