
Eagles Remain Perfect at Home, Muscles JMU 96-92 in Overtime

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball (10-5, 2-0 SBC) remained perfect at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, muscling past James Madison (7-6, 0-2 SBC), 96-92 on Saturday.
The Eagles pulled ahead in the second half behind a team effort that saw four players reach double figures. Nakavieon White led all Eagles with 25 points, while Spudd Webb scored 22 to pace the balanced attack. Alden Applewhite added 15 points and Tyren Moore chipped in 16. The Eagles shot 30-of-68 from the field, including six three-pointers and made 30-of-39 free throws on the night.
Georgia Southern built a narrow lead early and entered the second half with a two-point deficit. The Eagles maintained a slim margin through the beginning of the second half, scoring 46 total points in the paint.

- In the opening four minutes of action, both sides traded baskets with James Madison taking an early 7-4 lead heading into the first media timeout.
- At the under eight media time out, the Dukes grew their lead to 10, holding the Eagles scoreless for over four minutes of action, 25-15.
- A 13-2 run over a span of 2:41 cut the James Madison lead to one, as Tyren Moore converted on a driving layup, 29-28.
- Both sides traded baskets out of the half, after the Eagles held the Dukes scoreless for over two minutes. That span was capped off with a game-tying dunk by Shainen Carter, 56-56.
- Spudd Webb knocked down a three-pointer with 59 seconds on the clock, cutting the JMU lead to 78-77.
- Nakavieon White converted on an and-one to give the Eagles an 80-79 lead before JMU hit one free throw to send the game into overtime, 80-80.

- Georgia Southern men's basketball enters the holiday break with 10 wins, marking the earliest point in a season with 10 wins in program history.
- Saturday's victory pushed the Eagles winning streak to seven games and opened conference play with a perfect record.
- With the win at The Hill, Georgia Southern improves to 7-0 at home this season and 15-3 all-time. It extends the Eagles winning streak inside The Hill to 10 games.
- Nakavieon White scored 25 points on the night, setting a new season-high after scoring 20 at Florida Gulf Coast earlier this season.
