
PREVIEW: Georgia Southern Begins New Year Against Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball returns to the court for the first time since the holiday break, ringing in the New Year with a road trip to Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion. Tip-off on Thursday from Conway, is scheduled for 1 p.m., while Saturday's tip-off in Norfolk is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

- The longest active winning streak in the Sun Belt Conference was extended just before the holiday break, as Georgia Southern erased a second half deficit to knock off preseason favorite James Madison inside the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, 96-92 in overtime. With the win over the Dukes, Georgia Southern improved to a perfect 7-0 at home this season and pushed its active winning streak in Statesboro to 10 games dating back to last season.
- Georgia Southern opens a three-game road stint on New Year's Day as they travel to Conway, South Carolina, for a meeting with the Chanticleers, before traveling to Norfolk, Virginia, to square off against Old Dominion. The duo of Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion return to Statesboro in two weeks, as the Chants and Monarchs enter The Hill on January 15 and 17.
- Georgia Southern is one of five programs in the country to have its men's and women's basketball teams on at least a seven-game winning streak joining Vanderbilt, Michigan, Iowa State, and UConn.
- The Eagles have made 149 total three-pointers on the season, posting the most made in the Sun Belt Conference. The Blue and White are averaging 9.3 made three-pointers per game with a high of 15 made against Florida Gulf Coast on the road. Graduate guard Tyren Moore leads the Eagles with 41 made three-pointers and also leads the Sun Belt Conference.
- Saturday's 90-point outburst marked the seventh time this season the Eagles have scored 90-plus points, and was the fourth consecutive contest in which they did so. Georgia Southern is now 7-0 this season when scoring 90-plus points and is 42-3 since joining the Sun Belt.
- With a seven-game winning streak entering the New Year, Georgia Southern men's basketball is one of 14 teams to hold an active winning streak longer than six games. Ahead of the Eagles are Miami (Ohio) (13), Nebraska (12), Iowa State (12), Arizona (12), Vanderbilt (12), Michigan (11), UCF (10), Tulsa (9), Cal (9), BYU (9), UConn (8), Yale (8), and New Mexico (7).
