Volleyball Sweeps Arkansas State for Fifth Straight Win

The Eagles play host to Old Dominion in Hanner Fieldhouse next weekend.
JONESBORO, Ark. – Jordan Christy notched 11 kills and five blocks and hit .526 for the match to lead Georgia Southern to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-20) Sun Belt volleyball win over Arkansas State Saturday afternoon in First National Bank Arena.
Eagles of the Match
Emily Jarome collected 13 kills, four digs and three blocks, and Baylor Bumford posted seven blocks. Ashlyn Lovett had 15 digs and seven assists, and Callaway Cason totaled 24 assists, 12 digs and a block. Rebekah Farthing chipped in 10 digs.
Key Moments
Leading the match 2-0, the Eagles (10-4, 2-0) trailed 12-10 in the third set but scored nine of the next 11 points to open a 19-14 cushion. Christy sparked the run with a kill, Lovett added an ace and Grace Underwood and Paige Powers each put down kills.
After winning the first set 25-14, the Eagles scored the first 14 points of the second set. Thirteen came behind the serve of Cason, who ignited the stretch with an ace, and GS tallied six blocks during the run, including three in a row.
