STATESBORO, Ga. — Georgia Southern defeated Fordham 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-21) Saturday at Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles finished the opening set on a 19-0 run after the score was tied 6-6. With the win on Saturday afternoon, head coach Chad Willis has now tied the program's wins record, tallying his 117th in Statesboro.

Alex Myers led the Eagles with 12 kills on a .632 hitting percentage and added four blocks. Maddie Cugino recorded 19 digs and added three assists. Lexi Duffy finished with 20 assists, seven digs and a service ace. Mayte Camacho tallied three service aces and four digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The set stayed even through 6-6, with the Eagles getting early kills from Alex Myers, Reagan Barth, Gabby Babinski and Amelia Robinson.
- Sam Bowron put the Eagles ahead 7-6 with a kill, and Lexi Duffy followed by serving the next 18 points as the Eagles pulled away.
- Babinski, Myers, Ava Olsen and Bowron added kills during the run, while the Eagles also scored on blocks from Beka Pfefferkorn, Bowron, Myers, Babinski and Olsen.
- Bowron delivered kills on the final two points as the Eagles closed the set on a 19-0 run to win 25-6.

Second Set
- With the set at 4-3, Pfefferkorn's kill began an 8-0 Eagles run, and Lexi Duffy served the final seven points of the stretch as Alex Myers added a kill and a block and Sam Bowron put down two kills.
- After Fordham stopped the run, the Eagles pushed the lead to 15-4 behind a Fordham service error and back-to-back aces from Mayte Camacho.
- The Eagles reached 20-8 on consecutive kills by Bowron and Myers, then moved to 24-11 on a block by Myers and Reagan Barth before closing the set 25-12 on a Fordham service error.

Third Set
- The Eagles built a 12-6 lead after Mayte Camacho's ace, kills from Alex Myers, Anna Powell and Amelia Robinson, and a pair of Fordham attack errors helped stretch the early margin.
- Fordham answered with four straight points to get within 12-10, then later tied the set at 17-17 after a Sophia Oliveira kill and an Eagles attack error.
- The Eagles moved back ahead on a Fordham service error and a Pfefferkorn kill, and after Fordham got within 21-20, Myers had two kills during a closing stretch that ended with Sam Bowron's kill for a 25-21 set win.

Chad Willis pointed to the Eagles' execution after the win over Fordham, saying, "Good result. That we were able to get some different bodies in tonight. I thought we were pretty clean. Thought we did a great job attacking, executing game plan, especially on the service line. Good way to just get another solid sweep heading into a tough UNF opponent tomorrow to cap off the weekend, hopefully finish 8 and 4 in the non-Con."
