CONWAY, S.C. — Georgia Southern defeated Coastal Carolina 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-20) on Saturday at The HTC Center. The Eagles finished with a 41-25 advantage in kills and held Coastal Carolina to a .000 hitting percentage. With the win, Georgia Southern improved to 10-1 in the month of September, posting the best winning percentage in September in program history.

Reagan Barth led the Eagles with 13 kills while hitting .379 and added seven digs. Maddie Cugino collected 19 digs and added two assists. Alex Myers recorded seven kills and six total blocks. Kayla Knowles added five kills on eight attacks and finished with five total blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The teams traded points early before Coastal Carolina broke a 5-5 tie with four straight points, including a kill by Isabele Filardo, to move ahead 9-5.
- The Eagles answered from a 10-6 deficit with four straight points, then won six of seven after trailing 11-10, with kills from Kayla Knowles and Sam Bowron helping build a 16-12 lead.
- Coastal Carolina tied the set at 18-18 and again at 22-22, but a service error put the Eagles back in front before Bowron delivered consecutive kills to close the 25-22 set.

Second Set
- After Coastal Carolina scored the first two points, Mayte Camacho served back-to-back aces to tie the set at 2-2, and the Eagles later used kills from Reagan Barth and Kayla Knowles plus a Bella Ekeler ace to move in front 8-5.
- The Eagles turned an 11-8 lead into an 18-8 advantage with seven straight points, including kills from Sam Bowron, Alex Myers and Gabby Babinski and two blocks involving Myers.
- Bowron's kill made it 19-9, and Camacho followed with five straight service points, including an ace, before Barth finished the 25-10 set with a kill.

Third Set
- The Eagles moved ahead from a 4-4 tie with seven straight points, including six consecutive Ekeler service points, to take an 11-4 lead.
- Maddie Cugino added an ace during a three-point push that stretched the advantage to 16-7 before Coastal Carolina answered with four straight points to get within 16-11.
- The Eagles pushed back ahead 23-16 behind three Reagan Barth kills in a five-point span, and a Kayla Knowles-Sam Bowron block closed the set 25-20.
