STATESBORO – Elijah McCadden drilled a 3-pointer from the wing with 0.8 seconds left to lift Georgia Southern to a 61-58 Sun Belt men's basketball win over Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon in Hanner Fieldhouse.
McCadden broke a 55-55 tie with a triple from the opposite wing off an Eric Boone assist with 28.8 seconds to go, but DeVante' Jones, who finished with a game-high 27 points, buried a 3-pointer from the corner to tie the score just seven seconds later.
On the Eagles' ensuing possession, Boone penetrated and kicked it to McCadden who nailed what became the game winner. Coastal Carolina called a timeout and tried a long inbounds pass to Jones, but Boone stole it, and threw the ball the towards the Chants' basket to run out the clock.

McCadden scored all 10 of his points in the second half and added three rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Kamari Brown netted a team-high 15 points. Prince Toyambi posted eight points, six rebounds and a blocked shot, and Boone finished with six points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Toyambi was fouled after an offensive rebound and made both free throws, but the Chants got four offensive rebounds on their next trip down court before an Ahmard Harvey dunk tied the game with 57.1 to go.
