BOONE, NC–The Georgia Southern women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Sun Belt Conference rival Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon.

App State's Abbey Rand scored the final goal of the game in the 78th minute.

Georgia Southern's only goal came with four seconds left in the first half from Brogan Boudreaux. Taylor Regensburger crossed the ball to the top of the box, Boudreaux got one touch on the ball that was blocked by an App State defender. Boudreaux slid to take another shot and put the ball past the goalie into the bottom right corner of the net.

The first goal for Mountaineers came as a result of an own goal by the Eagles.

Georgia Southern out shot App State 12-10. Both teams had five shots on goal. Shots for the Eagles were taken by Brooke Barrett (1 SOG), Dani Coumbs (2 SOG), Vala Theodorsdottir (1 SOG), Alejandra Gracia, Maddie Klintworth, Kristin Sandifer, Brogan Boudreaux (1 SOG) and Kristin Spering.

Eagles goalkeeper, Lauren Karinshak, had three saves in the game and controlled a hardworking defense to keep App State from scoring until the end of the game.

"Another game where we come away disappointed after controlling the majority of the game. Unfortunately, performances alone won't put points on the board and we have to find a ruthlessness in the final third to put games to bed. As always, I can't fault the work rate of the team. We'll learn and grow from this as we head to Troy next weekend."
