Georgia Southern returns to action on Sunday at South Alabama, conditions permitting
STATESBORO - App State women's soccer collected a 4-0 victory over host Georgia Southern in Sun Belt Conference action from Bo Pitts Field on Thursday evening.
The Mountaineers (8-2-3, 3-1-1 SBC) claimed its fourth straight win in the series against the Eagles (7-3-3, 2-2-1 SBC), the most-played women's soccer series in Georgia Southern program history. The Eagles will return to action on Sunday, traveling to South Alabama on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET, conditions permitting.
App State got a pair of first half goals from Ellie Garrison and one from Elia Hoover in taking a 3-0 lead at the break. The Mountaineers then added a third goal from Garrison in the 54th minute as she completed the hat trick.Â
The Mountaineers finished the night with an 18-11 edge in shots and a dominating 10-4 edge in corner kicks as App State came into the match leading the Sun Belt in that category. Quinn Wilson made four first-half saves for the Eagles, while App State's Hanna Skogsfors made five saves in net for the Mountaineers.Â
Georgia Southern was whistled for seven fouls and one offsides on the night, while App State was whistled for three offsides and just three fouls.
