Georgia Southern earns a Sun Belt point on the road thanks to Addison Comer's second-half tally

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Fourth-year forward Addison Comer notched the match-tying goal in the 83rd minute to give Georgia Southern women's soccer a 1-1 draw at Southern Miss on Sunday afternoon in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The Eagles (8-4-4, 3-3-2 SBC) kept pace with the Golden Eagles (6-6-4, 3-4-2 SBC) in the Sun Belt standings with the draw, also remaining unbeaten in the series against Southern Miss. Georgia Southern will wrap up its two-match road swing on Wednesday, facing South Alabama at 3 p.m. ET in Mobile in a match originally postponed due to Hurricane Isaias.

Southern Miss went in front early, getting a goal from Shaelynn Quick in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Eagles. Despite Georgia Southern holding a 10-3 edge in shots, Southern Miss would hold the 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second half, the equalizer would come late as fourth-year Caitlin Conroy would send a ball into the box. The Jackson, Miss., native Comer would get onto it after a deflection and her turnaround shot found the back of the net for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Georgia Southern finished the afternoon with a 25-9 edge in shots. Logan McGruder made nine saves in net for USM, while Quinn Wilson collected five saves in net for the Eagles. Georgia Southern enjoyed a 10-1 edge in corner kicks and the Eagles were whistled for six fouls on the day, compared to five for the Golden Eagles.
