STORYLINES
- The Eagles welcome Texas State to town for a three game weekend series. The Bobcats are 21-12 and are on the heels of a midweek win at Texas A&M. Texas State's situation in the West Division mirrors the Eagles' with both squads sitting one game out of first place.
- Sophomore Noah Searcy hit two home runs and drove in five as the Eagles handed Kennesaw State its 10-straight road loss on Wednesday night. The Eagle pitching staff tossed a two-hitter in a staff outing, picking up the team's 19th win of the year.
- Georgia Southern trails 4-6 in the all-time series to Texas State, but has won three of the last four games over the last two seasons. The Bobcats handed the Eagles a series sweep in 2016 when they made their only previous trip to Statesboro.
- Noah Searcy had a career night on Wednesday, hitting two home runs against Kennesaw State. The native of Jacksonville drove in Georgia Southern's first five runs, a new career high. His two home runs lifted his career total to five.
- On a staff day for the Eagle pitchers, five twirlers displayed true #EagleBaseball by tossing a combined two-hitter. Rhett Gay made his Division I debut, working a six pitch first inning. Jonathan Edwards struck out three over two innings while Nick Jones fanned four in two frames. Cole Whitney earned the win, working the final two innings. The Eagles needed just 118 pitches, the fewest of the season, to get all 27 outs.
- Junior Seth Shuman had a dominant outing recently against Little Rock, striking out a career-high 13 batters. His big day set the table for the Eagles to fan 21 batters, one off a school record set back in 1975. Shuman went seven innings and scattered two runs off five hits with two walks. Seth was named to Collegiate Baseball News' National Players of the Week list on March 25th.
- Seth Shuman crossed a milestone in the win over ULM. He reached 200 career strikeouts and is now in striking distance of joining the Georgia Southern career top-10 strikeouts list. Shuman has 209 career Ks and needs 39 more punch outs to reach Tod Lee's (1995-97) total of 248.
- Among the many tools in his kit, Steven Curry has shown a knack for wearing pitches. In his 143 career games with the Eagles, Steven has been hit 54 times to rank third in school history, only four behind J.R. Revere's career total. In 2019, Curry has been hit 12 times with seven coming in the weekend finale.
- Junior Tyler Owens has had a splendid start to his Division I career with the Eagles, going 4-0 in his first four starts, all in the midweek. The junior from Sylvania has gone seven innings in all four of his wins including a pair against the College of Charleston. He is set to make his first weekend start on Saturday on a run of three wins from his last three outings.

UP NEXT
After this weekend's series against Texas State, the Eagles will play the first of two shortened weeks in the stretch run of the season. The Eagles face Charleston Southern on Statesboro before visiting Coastal Carolina for a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series due to the Easter holiday.
