• Georgia Southern is 23-10 under head coach
Mark Byington in Hanner Fieldhouse and posted a 13-2 record in the building last season. The Eagles are 3-2 this season.
• With 11-of-12 scholarship student-athletes who are freshmen, redshirt freshmen or sophomores (92 percent), Georgia Southern has the highest percentage of underclassmen on its current roster of the 345 NCAA Division I squads. Liberty (91 percent), Ohio State (85 percent), Fairleigh Dickinson (85 percent) and Wyoming (80 percent) round out the top-5.
• Georgia Southern lost 76 percent of its scoring and 72 percent of its rebounding from last season.

The Series• Georgia Southern leads the all-time series, which began in 1932, 10-6.
• Eight of the Eagles' wins were recorded before 1964 as the teams played 13 times between 1932 and 1964.
• The series was renewed in 1991 with the Eagles earning a 102-94 home win.
• Troy won both contests last season, posting a 75-71 victory in Trojan Arena and a 65-62 triumph in Hanner Fieldhouse.
• Last Meeting and last meeting in Hanner (2/19/15):
• Musa Abdul-Aleem posted 25 points and 12 rebounds and scored the go-ahead basket with 32.7 seconds left as Troy hung on to defeat Georgia Southern 65-62.
• Trailing 65-62 with 1.5 seconds to go, Georgia Southern had a last chance to tie the score off a sideline out-of-bounds play. The Eagles inbounded to
Jelani Hewitt, but the senior's 25-foot, 3-point try from the wing was off the mark as the buzzer sounded.

• Matias drove the lane on the Eagles' trip down the floor, but Abdul-Aleem stepped in front and took the charge with 21.2 seconds left. The Eagles had to foul and hacked Bilbo after trying to steal the inbounds pass.
• Bilbo missed two from the charity stripe, but Thomas pulled down the rebound for Troy and was fouled. He made the second end of the two-shot foul for a 65-62 lead.
• Hewitt tried a contested 3-pointer from the wing with the clock running down, and Hughes was there to collect the rebound as the bench called timeout with 1.5 seconds remaining, setting up Hewitt's final try.
Quick Hitters• The Eagles are led in scoring by a pair of freshmen in
