STATESBORO, Ga. – Having just over a two month break from competition, the Georgia Southern women's tennis team is returning to the Wallis Tennis Complex to play in the season's home opener against South Carolina State University on Tuesday.
"We are looking forward to our first match of the season, and we are especially excited to play at our home courts," head coach Michele Stanford said. "I have been very impressed with our practices so far this semester, and although our team may be young, we have a very eager group of individuals."
The Eagles and the Bulldogs face off at 1 p.m. tomorrow just outside of Hanner Fieldhouse for both of the teams' first time this spring. Originally, the two were set to meet up this weekend, but the match was moved to Tuesday.
"South Carolina State will be a competitive match for us, and I am excited to see how our team will compete this year," Stanford said. "I have no doubts that the energy will be high and the competition fierce. Always keeping the ultimate goal in mind, we know that this will be the first day of our journey to capturing the Sun Belt Title."
The Blue and White added two new members to the team this spring, Lindsay Truscott from South Africa and Emilia Bujan from Argentina. Those two, along with the veteran six will have a chance to showcase their skills before this weekend's match with SCAD.
