Georgia Southern Dominates SCAD 7-0 To Remain Perfect On Season
Statesboro, Ga. – The Eagles blanked visiting Savannah College of Art & Design Sunday from the Wallis Tennis Center 7-0. With the win, Georgia Southern remains perfect on the season at 3-0.
"I was very pleased with how the girls came out strong today," said Head Coach Michele Stanford. "They battled, and even if they went down, they fought back and created opportunities to win. It was a great day on the courts, and I am so proud of this team."
At No. 1 doubles, Mary Phillips Smith and Anne Kurzweil paired to defeat Maria Barragan and Camille Gbaquidi 6-2. Francisca Norregaard and Daria Vasekina got the job done at No. 2 doubles as they beat Mistecky and Carolina Viteri 7-5. In the No. 3 position, Jordana Klein and Giulia Riepe took down Gianna Mitchell and Daniella Arclia 6-2.
The first singles point was earned by Riepe at the No. 4 spot as she defeated Viteri 6-1, 6-2. Moments later, Norregaard made it 3-0 in favor of the Eagles when she beat Mitchell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
