Men’s Basketball Adds Kaine and Huff to Coaching Staff

Byington announces staff additions

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men's Basketball has announced the addition of two new members of the coaching staff. Tim Kaine joins the program as a new Assistant Coach, while Cabral Huff has signed on to be the Eagles' Director of Basketball Operations. Kaine and Huff replace Randy Peele and Pierre Jordan who have both left to take positions at Tennessee State.

"We are excited to have both Tim Kaine and Cabral Huff join our staff," said Head Coach Mark Byington. "Tim has a lot of experience working in the Sun Belt Conference, while Cabral has distinguished himself as one of the best high school coaches in the state of Georgia."

Tim Kaine joins the Georgia Southern staff after working as an assistant coach for the last 12 years, including the last six seasons at Florida Atlantic. While working for Mike Jarvis at FAU, Kaine helped the Owls post the program's first Sun Belt Regular Season Championship and an appearance in the 2011 NIT with a 21-win season.

He was voted as one of the Sun Belt's best recruiters by recruitdirt.com and helped the Owls land their first High School Parade All-American as well as the program's first ESPN Top-150 player. For his career, he has two NCAA Tournament Appearances, an NIT berth as well as a pair of regular season conference championships and two conference tournament championships.

Kaine was added to the FAU men's basketball staff before the 2008-09 season after helping Winthrop University, his alma mater, win its fourth-straight Big South Conference Championship in 2008. Serving as Winthrop's Director of Basketball Operations in 2007-08, Kaine was able to build on previous coaching experience gained from stops at Austin Peay State University, Newberry College, Guilford College and Northwestern High School.

A 2002 graduate of Winthrop with a degree in Sport Management, Kaine went on to earn his Master's degree in Sports Administration in 2003 from Austin Peay. A native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Kaine is the godson of Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski. He is married to Jenny and has a one-year old daughter, Tory.

Cabral Huff spent the last six seasons at St. Francis High School in Alpharetta where his Knights team won the 2014 Georgia Class A Private State Championship. He was named the Georgia Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year last season as well as Class A Coach of the Year by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

At St. Francis, Huff has recorded five-straight appearances in the state tournament. He has had 13 players named All-State and 11 players to play collegiately. In addition to coaching, Huff also served as Assistant Athletic Director and taught English Literature as well as Composition, Criminal Justice, Forensics and Weight Training.

For his career, Huff has 14 years of experience coaching basketball at the high school level and with the ABA's Rome Legion. A 2000 graduate of Morehouse College, Huff earned his Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in 2013.
