Eagles Host Final SoCon Series This Weekend

STORYLINES
Georgia Southern will play its final home games and Southern Conference series this weekend against the Western Carolina Catamounts. The Eagles will wrap up the regular season Tuesday at Jacksonville.
The Eagles had a week away from competition to attend to their finals.
GSU has four seniors, who will play in their finale games at J.I. Clements Stadium, in Stryker Brown, Matt McCall, Ben Morgan and Garren Palmer.
Stryker Brown and Matt McCall will walk in the University's graduations ceremonies on Saturday morning.
Jason Richman and Matt McCall rank first and second in the NCAA in pitching appearances. 
The Eagles rank sixth in the nation with 48 home runs and eighth with 346 runs scored.
GSU's team ERA of 3.20 ranks third all-time in school history.
The Eagle coaching staff boast a pair of Western Carolina graduates in Head Coach Rodney Hennon and Assistant Coach Chris Moore.

SERIES HISTORY
Georgia Southern holds a 55-48 edge in the 103 game all-time series with the Western Carolina Catamounts.
The Eagles are 23-14 at home in the series and just 8-13 on the road.
The Catamounts swept the season series in Cullowhee a year ago 9-3, 9-8, 7-4.
Prior to the sweep, GSU had won five of the last six meetings against WCU.
The two teams have met in the Southern Conference Tournament 16 times.
The SoCon series this weekend will be the last between the two squads.

TEAM NOTES
The Georgia Southern Eagles rank fourth in the Southern Conference with a .292 batting average and leads the league with a 3.20 ERA.
The Eagles team ERA of 3.20 ranks third all-time in school history.
GSU ranks in the top four in the conference in batting average (.292), slugging pct. (.436) and on-base percentage (.376).
The Eagles lead the league in runs scored (346), hits (510) and home runs (48).

The pitching staff posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 1994 on May 2-3. The Eagles allowed just two runs over 29 innings in the Furman series.

J.I. Clements Stadium crowds rank among the best in the nation this season. A total of 33,492 fans have attended games at GSU this season, which ranks 47th in the NCAA. The average attendance of 1,240 fans ranks 52nd in the nation.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Garrett Chapman is seeking to become the first freshman since 1984 to lead the team in batting average. Chapman currently is hitting a team-best .358.
Chapman leads the team with 20 multi-hit games, while Stryker Brown is the team leader with 11 multi-RBI games.
Aaron Mizell leads the team with 11 home runs and is third on the squad with a .309 batting average.
Stryker Brown has never hit better than .257 in a full season but is second on the team with a .322 average in 2014.
Brown has reached base in 15-straight games and has a hit in three-straight games.
Garrett Chapman leads the team with a four-game hit streak.
Ben Morgan needs just one more stolen base to tie for 10th in career bags swiped.
Jason Richman has allowed just one earned run over his last 30.2 innings pitched and his season ERA of 1.10 ranks third in Eagle history.
Richman sits just five apperances away from tying the school single season record.
Chase Griffin has a career-high 12 doubles this season.
Matt McCall needs one more save to tie for 5th in career saves and for 10th in single season saves.

Western Carolina has six players that hail from the state of North Carolina in Adam Martin (Marietta, Ga.), Colton Davis (Commerce, Ga.), Danny Schneider (Roswell, Ga.), Danny Bermudez (Cumming, Ga.), Korey Anderson (Grayson, Ga.)
Georgia Southern has no players from the state of North Carolina but have two coaches that attended Western Carolina. Head Coach Rodney Hennon played for the Catamounts from 1990-93 and was a coach from 1994-99. Assistant coach Chris Moore played for WCU from 1996-99.
