STORY LINES
- Georgia Southern plays its penultimate home game of the 2013-14 season on Saturday afternoon against Davidson ... It is the 39th meeting between the programs and the final regular season contest between the schools ... Georgia Southern won the last game at Hanner Fieldhouse between the schools and trails 31-7 in the all-time series.
- Jelani Hewitt enters UNCG game as the No. 1 ranked scorer in the Southern Conference with 20.0 ppg and is ranked 25th in scoring nationwide ... He scored 38 points earlier this season against Campbell and has twice been named SoCon Player of the Week ... He has scored in double figures 24 of 26 games this season and has gone over 20 points in scoring for 15 of the 26 games this year ... Hewitt became the 40th member of the 1,000 point club at GS with 18 against Wofford ... Hewitt now has 1,124 career points to rank 31st in scoring all-time at GS.
- Hewitt was also named SoCon Player of the Month for November 2013, averaging 24.5 ppg in the opening month of the season.
- Tre Bussey ranks second in scoring for the Eagles and seventh in the SoCon with 15.7 ppg ... He has scored over 20 points in nine of the 26 games this season and has posted double figure scoring in 22 of 26 games ... He became the 41st member of the 1,000 point club against Wofford (1-23-14) with 13 points ... He has 1,064 points to rank 35th at GS.
- Mark Byington is 18-19 as a Head Coach for his career.
- Marvin Baynham enters Thursday's game against UNCG needing just six rebounds to become the 12th member of the 500 rebound club at Georgia Southern since rebounding records began in the 1971-72 season.
- Kyle Doyle was named SoCon Freshman of the Week for his play in the wins over UNCG and The Citadel ... In those contests he made his first career starts and posted a double-double against the Spartans with 13 points and 12 rebounds .
