STORY LINES
- Georgia Southern travels to UNCG for the final time in SoCon play on Saturday afternoon for the 23rd meeting between the programs.
- Jelani Hewitt enters UNCG game as the No. 1 ranked scorer in the Southern Conference with 20.3 ppg and ranks 22nd in scoring nationwide ... He scored 38 points earlier this season against Campbell and has twice been named SoCon Player of the Week ... He has scored in double figures 21 of 22 games this season and has gone over 20 points in scoring for 12 of the 22 games this year ... Hewitt became the 40th member of the 1,000 point club at GS with 18 against Wofford ... Hewitt now has 1,051 career points to rank 34th in scoring all-time at GS.
- Hewitt was also named SoCon Player of the Month for November 2013, averaging 24.5 ppg in the opening month of the season.
- Tre Bussey ranks second in scoring for the Eagles and sixth in the SoCon with 17.2 ppg ... He has scored over 20 points in nine of the 22 games this season and has posted double figure scoring in 20 of 22 games ... He became the 41st member of the 1,000 point club against Wofford (1-23-14) with 13 points ... He has 1,029 points to rank 38th at GS.
- Mark Byington is 17-16 as a Head Coach for his career.
- Marvin Baynham enters Saturday's game against UNCG needing just 21 rebounds to become the 12th member of the 500 rebound club at Georgia Southern since rebounding records began in the 1971-72 season.
- Kyle Doyle returned from injury against Samford and scored a career-best 12 points while fouling out against the Bulldogs. The freshman forward went 3-for-5 from the field and 6-of-9 from the free throw line ... He made his first collegiate start against The Citadel and recorded 12 rebounds, matching the highest total this seaosn for a Georgia Southern player.
