CAREER HIGHS FOR HEWITT IN OPENER

EAGLES OPEN NEW YEAR WITH BIG REBOUND HAUL
Despite giving up five inches in the front court, Georgia Southern was able to out-rebound Illinois in the 2014 season opener. The Eagles committed to the boards and beat the Illini on the offensive glass 16-9.  Overall, the Eagles took a seven rebound win, posting a 41-34 mark.

Georgia Southern picked up two of the 15 spots on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team when Jelani Hewitt and Trent Wiedeman earned slots on the honor roll.

BUSSEY EARNS SPOT IN NBADL
After being signed and waived on the same day by the Utah Jazz, former Eagle Tre Bussey has earned a spot on the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Developmental League. The Stampede opened the 2014-15 season last weekend. Bussey averaged 5.5 ppg in the opening pair of games this season.
