He recorded eight assists, one better than his previous career high set last year. Hewitt also attempted 14 three-pointers, the seventh-best single game total in school history.
EAGLES OPEN NEW YEAR WITH BIG REBOUND HAULDespite giving up five inches in the front court, Georgia Southern was able to out-rebound Illinois in the 2014 season opener. The Eagles committed to the boards and beat the Illini on the offensive glass 16-9. Overall, the Eagles took a seven rebound win, posting a 41-34 mark.

BUSSEY EARNS SPOT IN NBADLAfter being signed and waived on the same day by the Utah Jazz, former Eagle
Tre Bussey has earned a spot on the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Developmental League. The Stampede opened the 2014-15 season last weekend. Bussey averaged 5.5 ppg in the opening pair of games this season.

PUTTING IN THE MILESGeorgia Southern will travel more than 12,000 miles this season for the program's first season in the Sun Belt Conference. The season total of 12, 283 miles is just 168 miles fewer than half the circumference of the Earth. Last year the Eagles traveled 9,216 miles.
