STORYLINES
- Georgia Southern plays its second-straight road game on Sunday evening with a trip to UAB ... The Eagles are 1-6 all-time against the Blazers in a series that dates back to a 1989 meeting in the NIT.
- Jelani Hewitt enters the UAB game as the leading scorer in the Southern Conference with 23.5 ppg and ranks seventh in scoring nationwide ... He recently scored 38 points against UAB and has twice been named SoCon Player of the Week ... Hewitt was held to his lowest scoring of the season with 13 points against SCSU last Saturday ... He has scored in double figures every game this season and has gone over 20 points in scoring for seven of the 10 games this season.
- Hewitt was also named SoCon Player of the Month for November 2013, averaging 24.5 ppg in the opening month of the season.
- Tre Bussey ranks second in scoring for the Eagles, but paces the team in shooting from downtown with a 42.4% mark ... Overall, he has 20.4 ppg to rank third in the SoCon ... He has scored over 20 points in seven of the 10 games this season.
- Mark Byington is 12-9 as a Head Coach for his career.
- Angel Matias had a career night last week against South Carolina State with 22 points and nine rebounds ... The junior transfer scored a career-high and posted over 20 points for the first time in his career ... Overall, he leads the Eagles with 7.1 rebounds per game.
- Curtis Diamond was called on to make his first starts of the season at the Cancun Challenge where he responded like a champ ... He averaged 15 ppg in those two games and made 5 buckets from downtown against Presbyterian College, scoring 19 total points.

Georgia Southern is back at home for the final game in Statesboro for 2013. The Eagles host Kennesaw State on Wednesday, December 18th at 7 p.m. Fans are invited to bring a new, medium sized stuffed animal to donate to the Boys and Girls Club of Bulloch County. With each donation, fans can purchase a game ticket for just $4. At halftime, fans will have a chance to toss their stuffed animal on the court with the closest to the target winning a prize pack from The University Store.
