Women’s Tennis ITA Southeast Regional Championship Results

ATHENS, Ga.- Georgia Southern women 's tennis encountered some strong competition this past weekend at University of Georgia, host of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships. Paola Garrido, Jordana Klein, Caitlin Kitchen, Stephanie Woods, and Mary Phillips Smith participated in the tournament.
"I was really proud of the way the team competed this weekend," said Head Coach Amy Bonner. "We faced some tough competition, yet we competed hard and really made each opponent earn the victory. It was great for Paola and Jordana to pick up some wins and I think it was great for the five players that competed to get some match experience before our home tournament this coming weekend."
In the first round of the Singles Main Draw Paola Garrido defeated Florida Gulf Coast's Johanna Sterkel (6-4, 7-5). Stephanie Woods defeated Isabela Castro from Kennesaw State (6-0, 7-5) in the Singles B Draw. Jordana Klein was able to bring home a victory by defeating FGCU's Elizabeth Means (6-2, 6-3)in the Singles Consolation Draw. Overall the Eagles were able to experience a very high level of play, preparing them for their home tournament this upcoming weekend.
The Eagles host the Georgia Southern Fall Invitational on Friday, October 25th through Sunday, October 27th.
