STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Eagles return home to play three of their next four games at Hanner Fieldhouse, the lone away game being at Cincinnati. The Eagles play host to Brewton-Parker Saturday, December 11th, at Hanner Fieldhouse and then travel to Cincinnati, Dec. 14th, before coming back to Statesboro to renew old rivalries with South Alabama (Dec. 18th) and Georgia State (Dec. 22nd).

THE SERIES
Georgia Southern has won the last nine games over Brewton-Parker to put the all-time series in the Eagles' favor, 14-2. Brewton-Parker's last win against GS came during the 1930-31 season when the Barons won, 36-28. Both teams last met on Nov. 27, 2004, at Hanner Fieldhouse when the Eagles defeated the Barons, 92-59, in their home opener for the 2004-05 season.

WHAT WE LEARNED LAST GAME
Tré Bussey (Lithia Springs, Ga.) led the Eagles with a career-high 21 points, including five treys for Eagles' top performance from behind the arc this season. Marvin Baynham (Miami, Fla.) recorded Georgia Southern's second double-double on the season with a team-high 11 rebounds and 10 pts. 11 rebounds is a career best.

Four other Eagles scored in double-figures as Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.), Ben Drayton III (St. Marys, Ga.) and Jelani Hewitt (Oakland Park, Fla.) scored 16, 14 and 13 points, respectively. Sam Mike (Atlanta, Ga.) had 10 points on the night. Drayton had a season-high eight rebounds while Mike's seven-rebound total was a career best. Hewitt's five steals was a career high for the freshman.

THE COACHES
Eagles Head Coach Charlton "C.Y." Young, named after actor Charlton Heston, is a 1994 graduate of "THE" Georgia Southern University who started at point guard for the Eagles from 1989-1993. Introduced on April 9, 2009 as the new "CEO" of the Georgia Southern Men's Basketball program, Young guides a program on the rise.

As a player, Young was named the Trans American Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player for his performances in three Eagle victories in the 1992 TAAC tournament and he capped the championship victory over Georgia State with 20 points and eight assists, leading the Eagles to the NCAA Tournament.

A three-time All-Conference selection at point guard in two different leagues (Trans America Athletic: 1990-91, 1991-92; Southern: 1992-93), Young earned All-Tournament Team honors in both the TAAC and SoCon and still stands in the 'Top 10' in numerous Georgia Southern statistical categories.

John D. Jones is in his third season at the helm of the Brewton-Parker Barons program. Jones' previously spent seven years as head coach at Nyack College in New York. Jones oversaw the program's transition into a NCAA Div.-II Men's Basketball program.

While at Nyack, Jones guided the Warriors in 2003-04 to an National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) East Region Championship and the programs first-ever Final Four appearance in the tournament. The Warriors won another East Region Championship the next season, capping it with the programs' first 20-win season in 11 years and a number-one national ranking in the NCCAA for the first-time ever.  

Prior to arriving at Nyack College, Jones served on the coaching staff at NAIA Geneva College and helped lead the Golden Tornadoes to an 2001 NCCAA National Championship.

BREWTON-PARKER BARONS
Brewton-Parker, a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), comes into today's game on a four-game losing streak dropping its last game, 57-70, against Spring Hill College. Brewton-Parker's senior guard Andrew Dikas scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds in the loss against Spring Hill. Dikas is the Barons leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 14.4 points per game while grabbing seven rebounds per game.

The Barons lost three starters from last year's 9-22 team including their top scorer and rebounder and SSAC All-Conference Team selection Brandon Barron. Brewton-Parker returned Stefan Frank and Tim Jickell, both SSAC All-Freshman Team selections from last season.

RECOGNIZE I'M BACK
Both Rory Spencer and Cameron Baskerville rejoin the team for the Brewton-Parker contest after sitting out the last three games with injuries. Spencer leads the team in both scoring (16.0) and rebounding (6.2) while Baskerville's experience inside the paint has averaged five rebounds per game.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Three Eagles are in the top 25 of the SoCon in scoring average. Ben Drayton III is ranked in sixth place (15.9) while freshmen Eric Ferguson and Jelani Hewitt are in 15th (13.1) and 23rd place (11.7), respectively.

MAKING A MARK IN THE SOCON
Going into the Brewton-Parker game, Marvin Baynham and Eric Ferguson are both ranked in the SoCon Top 20 in rebounds with Baynham ranking 12th (5.8) and Ferguson in a tie for 18th (5.2). Ben Drayton III and Jelani Hewitt round out the SoCon Top 15 in assists with Drayton ranking 13th (3.4) and Hewitt 15th (3.2). Ferguson's 2.2 offensive rebounds per game is tied for 11th best in the league while 2.0 rebounds on the offensive glass for Baynham ranks15th.

STEALING AN OPPORTUNITY AWAY
Three Eagles ranked in the top seven of the SoCon steals-per-game chart has propelled Georgia Southern to 22nd in the national rankings as well as a first-place SoCon ranking (9.7). Ben Drayton III is tied for 52nd nationally and ranks third in the SoCon with 2.2 steals per game. Jelani Hewitt and Eric Ferguson are ranked in fifth-(2.1) and seventh-place (1.9), respectively.

A FRESH TAKE
The Georgia Southern freshman class accounts for 61 percent of the Eagles' scoring. Eric Ferguson and Jelani Hewitt average 13.1 and 11.7 ppg respectively, while the seven-total freshmen are responsible for 44.1 of GSU's 72.7 points on average.  

BEEN A WHILE
While the Eagles have three first-time opponents on the schedule in Notre Dame, Carver College and Chicago State, there are a few who haven't been around in a while. Former TAAC rival Georgia State will return to Hanner Fieldhouse for the first time since 1996 on December 22. Both South Alabama (Dec. 18) and Eastern Kentucky (January 2) are making their first trips to Statesboro since the 1980s.
