
Quinn Wilson Named Sun Belt Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Goalkeeper went 2-0 with an 0.50 GAA as the Eagles start 2-0 for the first time since 2014
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern fourth-year goalkeeper Quinn Wilson has been named the Sun Belt Conference's first Defensive Player of the Week for the 2026 season after picking up a pair of wins this week in net for the Eagles.
Wilson went 2-0 with an 0.50 GAA as Georgia Southern began the season with a pair of wins for the first time since 2014. On Sunday againts ASUN preseason favorite FGCU, she made five saves as Georgia Southern notched a 2-0 shutout win - her sixth career shutout. In her four year career, Wilson has had at least one shutout in all four seasons with the Eagles.
The Beaufort, S.C., also got the win in net in Wednesday's season-opener against North Florida, a 2-1 come-from-behind victory for the Eagles.
This is the first career Sun Belt weekly honor for Wilson, and she is the first Eagle to earn a weekly honor from the league since defender Claire Casey was the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on September 10, 2024.
Wilson and the Eagles return to action on Thursday, traveling to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on ASUN foe Jacksonville University at 7 p.m.
