Queen’s Multi-Double Performance Highlights Battle Against Troy

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern Eagles (19-24, 6-10 SBC) fell 5-1 to the Troy Trojans (26-17, 9-10 SBC).
Despite the final score, Georgia Southern demonstrated significant flashes of offensive power and defensive resilience against Troy. The Eagles' lineup showed great discipline at the plate, forcing Troy's starting pitcher into high-pressure situations and striking early with base hits.
A major highlight for Georgia Southern was the performance of sophomore Braelyn Queen, who consistently drove the ball into the gaps to record two doubles, going 2-for-3, during the contest.
The Eagles also showed their ability to manufacture runs in the fourth inning when Valerie Combs reached base and was driven home by a clutch RBI single from Semira Tigg.
While Troy managed to extend their lead in the sixth inning, the Georgia Southern defense continued to battle through high-pressure situations. After a Troy RBI single by Lydia Kirby made the score 4-1, the Eagles remained focused, eventually recording the final out of the inning to keep the game within reach.
While the comeback fell short, the Eagles' ability to manufacture scoring opportunities and Queen's multi-hit performance provided positive momentum as the Sun Belt series continues on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
