Eagles Season Ends in SBC Tournament Loss to Coastal Carolina

LAFAYETTE, LA. – The Georgia Southern Eagles (24-29, 11-14 SBC) saw their 2026 season come to a close Wednesday afternoon, falling 6-2 to Coastal Carolina in the opening round of the Sun Belt Softball Championship at Lamson Park.

Coastal Carolina wasted little time taking control, scoring in each of the first three innings. A sacrifice fly in the opening frame gave the Chanticleers a 1-0 lead before an RBI single in the second pushed the advantage to two.

The Eagles responded in the bottom half of the inning when sophomore Braelyn Queen delivered a two-run double to trim the deficit to 5-2.

Georgia Southern threatened multiple times late in the game but was unable to capitalize.

Senior Emma Davis tripled with two outs in the fifth inning, though the Eagles could not bring her home. Davis' hit secured her 221 career – tied for No.4 in the all-time career lists.

In her conference tournament debut, freshman Kaylee Croft posted a competitive outing. She allowed one run on four hits ad striking out two batters.
